Directory Listing Submission
$75 per directory
Patients searching for a psychiatrist, therapist, or nurse practitioner rarely start on Google alone. Psychology Today, Healthgrades, Zocdoc, and similar directories rank well in search results and are often the first place a patient with insurance looks for an in-network provider. A listing you control — with accurate credentials, current photos, and the right specialties listed — gets you in front of that search.
What is included per directory
- Listing copy written for the directory's format — each directory has its own character limits, required fields, and specialty taxonomies. I research the platform and write a bio, specialties section, and practice description that fits the directory's fields and reads as a real provider profile, not generic filler.
- Credential upload— license number(s), NPI, board certifications, and education formatted to meet the directory's verification requirements.
- Photo upload— your headshot (provided by you or from your intake) sized and cropped per the directory's specs.
- Go-live verification— I confirm the listing is publicly visible, that the phone number, website, and booking link resolve correctly, and that the specialty categories are accurate.
- Directory fees billed to you directly— most major directories (Psychology Today, Healthgrades, Zocdoc) charge an annual subscription. That cost is between you and the directory. I handle the setup work; you pay the directory.
Which directories are worth it
Not every directory has meaningful search traffic for your specialty. Here is a short list of the ones I recommend for the specialties I serve most often (psychiatric NPs, social workers, and similar solo practices):
| Directory | Best for | Typical directory fee |
|---|---|---|
| Psychology Today | Therapists, social workers, PMHNPs | ~$30/mo ($360/yr) |
| Healthgrades | NPs, PAs, MDs — any clinical provider | Free basic; paid upgrades from $100/mo |
| Zocdoc | Insurance-accepting practices; patients who book online | Subscription; pricing by specialty/market |
| TherapyDen | Therapists, LCSWs, counselors | ~$10–20/mo |
| GoodTherapy | Therapists, mental health practices | ~$30–40/mo |
| NPI Registry (free) | Any licensed provider — this is required, not optional | Free; already exists if you have an NPI |
Directory fees as of June 2026. Confirm current pricing directly with each directory.
What other agencies charge for this
Prices observed May–June 2026. Most agencies bundle directory submissions into broader local SEO packages rather than selling them individually.
| Provider | Per-directory or package price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Agency A (healthcare marketing) | $200–300 per directory | Bundled with a local SEO retainer; rarely sold standalone |
| Agency B (local SEO) | $500–1,000 for 5 directories | Package deal; can't choose individual directories |
| Citation-building service (Yext, BrightLocal) | $300–500/yr subscription | Automated submissions; less control over listing content quality |
| Freelancer (Fiverr / Upwork) | $30–80 per listing | Variable quality; often uses generic copy templates |
| Healthcare Web Pros | $75 per directory | Written for your specific specialty and credentials; verified live |
Why the price is lower
Automated citation services like Yext push the same data to dozens of directories simultaneously. That speed is useful for a restaurant chain that needs consistent NAP (name, address, phone) data across 50 sites. It is less useful for a solo clinical practice where what matters is not volume but accuracy: the right specialty categories, the right credential abbreviations, a bio that is written for how a patient in distress reads a directory — not how a local SEO audit scores it.
At $75, the listing is submitted by hand, written specifically for your specialty and location, and verified before I consider it done. There is no subscription required after the initial fee, and no software license to maintain.
Add a directory listing
To add a listing to a directory, tell me which one you want. I will check whether your practice already has a claimed profile there (which happens more often than you might expect — Google and the directories pull from public data) and let you know before you pay.
Send me a message with the directory name, or reply to your monthly report with “yes, add [directory name] listing.”
